When you hire a photographer you are already purchasing a package. It starts off with taking time meeting clients, dealing with administrative work like permits, emails and other legal documents. Then, include their time at the photoshoot, the use of high end equipment, their talent, their skill, their experience, their style and the post production of photos. After all of that, they still have to arrange photo products like prints and gifts, to be delivered to the clients.

Photographers who charge premium rate are mostly veterans and have a stable business for a very long time. Having a well known reputation with extensive and exclusive clients allows photographers to charge expensive rate. The type of photography and the style of the photographer adds to the value of return service. The demand for photographers in your area also adds a major factor in adding to the price. High end cameras can cost around $5,000 and that is not a cheap nor easy return investment. These factors forces photographers to upgrade their cameras at around 2 to 3 years. Depending on their type of photography, other equipment are also purchased or rented to make sure that they produce the desired end product. These extra cost adds up with their overhead expenses.

Photographers on the other hand use expensive editing software that offers more than the basic photo editing tools. These softwares allows photographers to manipulate, enhance and resize digital image without loosing any data. Other factors that can add to the price of photography is food and transportation to far away locations, gifts to clients or many other form of complementary giveaways. If a photographer has a studio they have to consider their monthly cost of rent and utilities not to forget that they may also have employees in a payroll.
